Sugar Plum Ball & Galactic Gala Lands on Long Island This Sunday With Jedi, Magic, and Plenty of Heart

The Force is about to make a grand entrance in Woodbury this weekend.

CP Nassau’s annual Sugar Plum Ball & Galactic Gala returns this Sunday, December 7, bringing its blend of fairy-tale sparkle and sci-fi adventure back to The Fox Hollow from noon to 4 p.m. The family-friendly fundraiser mixes enchanted ballroom vibes with lightsabers, laughter, and a mission that supports children and adults with disabilities.

The event has deep roots on Long Island. What began more than 30 years ago as a father-daughter dance was reimagined in 2019 with a Galactic Gala twist after attendance started to dip. Members of the 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, and Saber Guild stepped in with Stormtroopers, Jedi, and a whole cast of characters—turning the celebration into an inclusive experience that appeals to every young fan.

Guests this Sunday can expect a full sit-down meal, dessert, DJ, dancing, a magic show, raffle baskets, photo ops, and Jedi training sessions throughout the afternoon. Tickets, priced at $200 per parent-and-child pair, include all activities, with proceeds supporting CP Nassau’s programs.

Organizers also sponsor 10 to 12 students from CP Nassau’s Children’s Learning Center each year, giving them the chance to take part in the festivities at no cost.

The Sugar Plum Ball & Galactic Gala will take place at The Fox Hollow, 7725 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

CP Nassau also hosts the popular, free-to-attend Sci-Fi Mini Con, a separate annual fundraiser that brings out Long Island’s cosplay and comics community for another day of fandom-driven giving.
