The Force will be strong at Fox Hollow this December.
On Sunday, December 7, 2025, from noon to 4 p.m., the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County (CP Nassau) will host its annual Sugar Plum Ball and Galactic Gala, a family-friendly event that mixes fairy-tale sparkle with intergalactic flair, all to support a meaningful cause.
The Sugar Plum Ball began more than thirty years ago as a traditional father-daughter dance, but attendance had started to decline. In 2019, organizers reimagined it with a new Galactic Gala theme and enlisted members of the 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, and Saber Guild to add a science fiction twist. The addition of Jedi, Stormtroopers, and other costumed heroes helped transform the event into a celebration that appeals to both girls and boys.
This year’s event will feature a full sit-down meal, dessert, DJ, dancing, a magic show, raffle baskets, photo opportunities, and Jedi training, along with appearances by characters from across the galaxy and beyond. The admission fee of $200 per parent-and-child pair includes all activities, with proceeds benefiting CP Nassau’s programs for children and adults with disabilities. Tickets must be purchased in advance by December 3.
Each year, ten to twelve students from the organization’s Children’s Learning Center are sponsored to attend free of charge, giving them the chance to take part in the festivities alongside their peers.
The Sugar Plum Ball and Galactic Gala will be held at The Fox Hollow, 7725 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury.
CP Nassau also hosts the free-to-attend Sci-Fi Mini Con, an annual fundraiser that brings together fans of comics, cosplay, and pop culture while supporting the same mission. The event features vendors, costume contests, and appearances from beloved characters, offering another way for Long Island’s fan community to give back.
