A Freeport man is facing multiple felony charges after Nassau County police say he used his 13-year-old daughter to complete a cocaine transaction.
According to the Nassau County Police Department’s Narcotics Vice Squad, investigators determined that Julio Enmanuel Pena, 39, arranged to sell cocaine to another individual on a previous date and allegedly had his daughter carry out the transaction.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Pena at his Freeport home on Monday, June 1, at approximately 12:40 p.m. Police said the arrest was made without incident.
Authorities also recovered an additional quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine during the arrest.
Pena has been charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Conspiracy in the Third Degree, Use of a Child to Commit a Controlled Substance Offense, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
He was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, June 2, at First District Court in Hempstead.
The charges are accusations, and Pena is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
