Roosevelt Woman Charged After Stabbing Victim During Argument

A 48-year-old Roosevelt woman is facing multiple charges after police say she stabbed another woman during a dispute Sunday afternoon.

According to Nassau County police, the incident occurred on April 5, 2026, at approximately 12:14 p.m. in Roosevelt. Detectives said Marie-Lucie Auguste became involved in a verbal argument with a 47-year-old woman that escalated into violence.

Police said Auguste allegedly punched the victim in the face and pushed her to the ground before producing a knife and stabbing her in the arm, causing a laceration. The victim, fearing for her life, called 911.

Responding officers located both the victim and Auguste at the scene. Auguste was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. Auguste was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Auguste has been charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and Menacing in the Second Degree.

Second-degree assault is a felony offense in New York and can carry significant prison time if convicted, while the additional charges include both misdemeanor and felony-level offenses tied to violent conduct and weapon possession.

Auguste is scheduled to be arraigned on April 6, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
