Three men were arrested after Nassau County police said two suspects attempted to break into an outdoor storage unit at a Roslyn Heights home Monday night.
According to Sixth Squad detectives, officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at a residence on Spruce Street at approximately 10:33 p.m. on May 4.
Police said the 35-year-old homeowner saw two unknown men attempting to gain entry into an outdoor storage unit through his surveillance system and immediately called 911.
Before officers arrived, the suspects fled the area in a vehicle traveling in an unknown direction, authorities said.
Following an investigation, officers located the defendants and arrested them without incident. No injuries were reported.
Police identified the defendants as William Salmeron, 36, of Westbury, and Darwin Amaya, 35, of Hauppauge. Both men were charged with second-degree criminal mischief, attempted third-degree grand larceny, and third-degree criminal trespass.
Salmeron and Amaya were scheduled to be arraigned May 5 at First District Court in Hempstead.
A third defendant, Aravinda Ramkistodas, 30, of Bay Shore, was charged with numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations in connection with the investigation. Police said he was released on an appearance ticket and is due back in First District Court on May 19.
The investigation remains ongoing.
