Mystery Gunmen Refuse to ID Themselves After Inwood Gas Station Robbery, Crash Getaway Car

Two men who refused to identify themselves were arrested after an early morning armed robbery at an Inwood gas station ended with a crashed getaway car on Ocean Parkway, according to Nassau County police.

Detectives say the incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on March 14, when the two men entered a Sunoco station on Sheridan Boulevard. While inside, one of the suspects displayed a firearm and ordered an employee to open the cash register.

The pair fled the scene with cash and other items in a Ford Fusion, but their escape was short-lived.

Police officers spotted the vehicle and attempted a stop. During the pursuit, the car struck a curb on Ocean Parkway and became disabled. Both suspects were taken into custody at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

A firearm was recovered inside the vehicle, which investigators later determined had been reported stolen.

The two men, who have refused to identify themselves, are charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and second-degree reckless endangerment.

They were scheduled to be arraigned on March 15 at First District Court in Hempstead.
