SHIRLEY, N.Y. — A Farmingville man and his nephew are accused of turning a Shirley restaurant into a hub for cocaine sales, with authorities alleging the operation also involved fentanyl, large amounts of cash, and illegal weapons.
Prosecutors say Carlton Williams, 58, and Rohan Rose, 47, were indicted after an investigation revealed cocaine was allegedly sold out of Stop n Nyamm, a Jamaican-style restaurant in Shirley owned by Williams. According to authorities, undercover officers made multiple purchases during the investigation, including transactions that allegedly took place inside the restaurant.
Investigators said Williams at times hid drugs inside a soda can with a false bottom kept beneath the counter. On another occasion, Rose, who is Williams’ nephew and worked at the restaurant, allegedly carried out a sale.
When search warrants were executed in February, authorities said they recovered roughly two kilos of cocaine and fentanyl combined, more than $39,000 in cash, and drug packaging equipment. Additional items recovered included false-bottom containers and extended ammunition magazines.
Both men were arraigned this week and are being held on bail. If convicted on the top counts, Williams faces up to 20 years in prison, while Rose faces up to nine years.
The investigation was led by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Fentanyl Task Force.
The charges are accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
