A Brooklyn woman is facing felony charges after police say she stole more than $50,000 worth of merchandise from dozens of stores across Nassau County over an eight-month period.
According to Nassau County police, Magdalena Samsin, 41, of Brooklyn, was arrested April 3 at approximately 8:11 p.m. following an extensive investigation into a series of retail thefts.
Detectives said Samsin entered more than 27 retail establishments between August 2025 and April 2026, selected various items, and exited the stores without paying. The total value of the stolen merchandise exceeds $50,000, according to authorities.
Police did not specify the types of items taken or identify the individual stores involved, but said the thefts occurred throughout Nassau County.
Following the investigation, officers located Samsin and took her into custody without incident.
Samsin has been charged with Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a felony offense under New York State law that applies when the value of stolen property exceeds $50,000. If convicted, the charge carries a potential prison sentence.
She was arraigned April 4 at First District Court in Hempstead.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
