Cosplayers, gamers, and comic buffs unite! Here is a list of cons where you can get to show off your latest and greatest cosplayer costume, meet celebs, and engage with your favorite fandom. Whether you’re a Trekkie (or Trekker), Whovian, Scruffy Looking Nerf Herder, gamer, or just love scifi, fantasy, comics and all things geek culture, this is the list for you!
- ✅ CradleCon – We went to Cradle-Con! Click here to check out everything we did and saw this year! Cosplayers head over to CradleCon at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on May 18-19, 2024. On Saturday is the 18+ contest with a top prize of $500. On Sunday is the 17 and under contest with a first prize of $250. Where: Cradle of Aviation Museum, Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Garden City. When: May 18-19, 2024.
- ✅ Trek Long Island – We went to Trek Long Island! Click here to see photos and videos from Long Island’s only Trek convention! Trek guests galore! Read about Gabrielle Ruiz, who plays T’Lyn on Star Trek: Lower Decks and will be at the con. Also read about con founder Stefanie Gangone and how she is boldly going where no con has before. Where: Hyatt Regency Long Island, 1717 Motor Pkwy, Hauppauge. When: May 31 – June 2, 2024.
- ✅ Maker Faire Long Island – We made it to Maker Faire Long Island. Click here to check out our video recap! Not officially a con but it looks like one. This event is chock full of everything we geeks love – cosplayers, gadgets, tech, science, and lots of robots. Click here to read our story about just five of the makers you will meet there. Where: Long Island Explorium, Port Jeff Harbor, 101 East Broadway, Port Jefferson. When: Saturday, June 8, 2024.
- ✅ 3nd Annual Sci-Fi Mini Con – Click here to read a wrap-up of the con and see all the pics. The 3nd Annual Sci-Fi Mini Con to benefit Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County. Where: Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Parkway, Hicksville. When: Saturday, July 20th, Noon-5pm.
- ✅ HurriCon 2024 – A comic convention with a heart. Click here to read all about it! Where: Bethany Congregational Church, 100 Main Street, East Rockaway. When: Saturday, July 20th, 10am-5pm.
- ✅ LI Retro Gaming Expo – Share your passion for their favorite game, anime, comic, film or art. All attendees are welcome to dress up as the character or concept of their choice. Where: Cradle of Aviation Museum, Charles Lindbergh Blvd, Garden City. When: August 9-11, 2024.
- ✅ LI TropicCon – We went to Tropic Con. Click here to watch our video wrap-up! New York’s Pop Culture Paradise – comics and cosplay. Click here to read all about the founders of Tropic Con. Registration for Tropic Con’s Cosplay Championship 2024 is now open! This event is open to Cosplayers of all skill levels and all you gotta do is head to their website and fill out the sign-up sheet! Come show off your skills for a chance at glory and a piece of that $5k!! Where: Hyatt Regency Long Island, 1717 Motor Parkway, Hauppauge. When: August 17-18, 2024.
- ✅ Long Island’s Doctor Who Convention – We took a trip on the TARDIS to the original Doctor Who con on Long Island and covered it in this wrap-up story. - ❌ SmithCon 2024 –CANCELLED! From the library staff: The Library is disappointed to announce that we are postponing SmithCon2024 that was to take place on Saturday, November 2 at our Smithtown Building until further notice. We look forward to hosting this fun-filled event in the future. Please keep an eye out on the Library’s website and newsletter for a new date. When: Saturday, November 2, 2024. Where: Smithtown Library, One North Country Road, Smithtown.
- Long Island Brick Convention – The ultimate LEGO® fan event, built by LEGO fans, for LEGO fans. Some of North America’s best LEGO® builders will gather to display their incredible LEGO creations in the Fan Display Zone. Professional LEGO artists from around the world will be onsite showing off their works and available for meet-and-greets. There are THOUSANDS of LEGO® bricks for you to play with in our multiple BUILDING ZONES. See the latest LEGO® sets to buy as well as specialist retailers selling cool vintage and collectible rare sets and accessories too. Plus lots of fantastic LEGO® themed gift ideas for fans of all ages. Where: Suffolk Credit Union Arena, 1001 Crooked Hill Rd, Brentwood. When: Saturday, October 19th 11:30am-9:30pm and Sunday October 20th 11:30am to 6pm.
- LI TCG Show – Get ready for the FIRST EVER 2-DAY Long Island TCG Show, promising an even grander experience! Dive into the heart of the trading card game universe with over 150 vendor tables, offering a treasure trove of rare finds and collectibles. Immerse yourself in the thrill of our special guests from your favorite franchises such as Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Naruto, Sonic, and One Piece, adding star power to the event. Engage in fierce tournaments that will test your skills and strategy. Where: 598 Broadhollow Rd, Melville. When: Saturday, November 16th from 11am-6pm & Sunday, November 17th from 11am-5pm.
- HurriCon 2024 – Second event of the year for this comic convention. Where: Bethany Congregational Church, 100 Main Street, East Rockaway. When: Saturday, November 23rd, 10am-5pm
- Long Island Comic Fest – Usually in November but the organizers are seeking out a new location so everything is TBD. We will update as soon as we know more.
- EternalCon – No 2024 dates yet but this con has a cosplay contests, meetups, and events. We will update as soon as we know more.
