Westbury Man Accused of Drunk Driving in Meadowbrook Crash That Seriously Injured Passenger

A Westbury man is accused of driving drunk and causing a violent crash on the Meadowbrook State Parkway that left a passenger seriously injured early Sunday morning.

According to New York State Police, Deondre L. Clark, 35, was heading north on the Meadowbrook Parkway at what investigators described as an unsafe speed shortly before 3 a.m. when his vehicle crashed into a 2015 Honda Pilot in East Meadow.

Police said a passenger inside the Honda was thrown from the SUV during the collision and suffered serious injuries. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Honda and two other passengers were not seriously hurt, authorities said.

Clark was charged with felony assault, drunk driving, and reckless driving. He was expected to be arraigned Monday.

The crash shut down the northbound Meadowbrook State Parkway for several hours between the Southern State Parkway and Hempstead Turnpike while troopers investigated the scene. The road reopened around 8 a.m.
