Teen Girl Kicked In Head During Fight At Merrick Fair, 13-Year-Old Arrested

A 13-year-old girl was arrested after two teenage girls were assaulted during a fight at the Merrick fair Friday night, Nassau County police said.

The incident happened at 9:30 p.m. on May 22 at the fairgrounds located at 2099 Sunrise Highway in Merrick, according to First Squad detectives.

Police said a 15-year-old girl was struck several times in the head before falling to the ground, where she was then kicked repeatedly in the head. She was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

A 14-year-old girl also reported being dragged to the ground and repeatedly punched in the head during the incident, police said.

Video of the fight later circulated on social media after the mother of one of the victims posted footage online, saying her daughter was taken to the emergency room after her head was “stomped” on during the attack.

After an investigation, detectives arrested a 13-year-old female juvenile without incident.

She was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and is scheduled to appear in Family Court at a later date.

Police did not release the identities of the juvenile defendant or the victims.
