An East Patchogue man was arrested Thursday after Suffolk County police said investigators found more than 50 AI-generated child sex abuse images on electronic devices seized from his home.
Nicholas Zavesky, 43, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, police said.
The investigation began after Suffolk County police received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Detectives with the department’s Digital Forensics Unit subsequently investigated the case.
Police executed a search warrant Aug. 13 at Zavesky’s residence on Knot Street in East Patchogue and seized multiple electronic devices.
Investigators said the devices contained more than 50 child sex abuse images that had been artificially edited after the original images were taken from social media platforms.
Detectives arrested Zavesky at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.
He was scheduled to be arraigned later Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
The charges are accusations. Zavesky is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
