Police Seek Suspect Accused of Attempting to Set Fire to West Hempstead Gym

Nassau County Crime Stoppers and the Nassau County Police Department’s Arson Bomb Squad are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted arson at a West Hempstead gym.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on June 3, 2026, at approximately 2:40 a.m. at Fly High Fit Gym, located at 229 Nassau Boulevard.

Police said the pictured male suspect attempted to set fire to the business before fleeing the scene. Investigators said the individual later returned to the area on a bicycle.

Authorities released surveillance images of the suspect, including photos showing a distinctive “Sloth & Turtle” cycling jersey.

The investigation remains ongoing.
