An East Garden City woman was arrested after police said she sprayed an unknown substance into a crowd during a disturbance at a hotel, sending four people to the hospital.
According to Nassau County police, officers responded to a disturbance at the La Quinta Inn, located at 821 Stewart Ave. in East Garden City, at approximately 8:44 p.m. on June 12.
Detectives said Jacquelyn Chan, 33, of East Garden City, became involved in a physical altercation and allegedly sprayed an unknown substance into a crowd of people.
As a result, four victims were exposed to the substance and suffered irritation, police said. The victims were transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Chan was taken into custody without incident.
She is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Police said investigators also discovered that Chan had an active Nassau County warrant.
She was scheduled to be arraigned on June 13 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
