Masked Pair in Bike Helmets Smash Through North New Hyde Park Building Before Vanishing

Two masked men wearing bike helmets forced their way into a Marcus Avenue office building in North New Hyde Park on Saturday, March 28, leaving behind damage before disappearing without a trace.

By the time the property manager discovered what had happened around 5:08 p.m., the suspects were already gone.

According to Nassau County police, the two men unlawfully entered the commercial building at 1981 Marcus Avenue and damaged various items inside before fleeing in an unknown direction.

The pair didn’t exactly blend in.

Both were dressed mostly in dark clothing, but what stood out was what they wore on their heads: bike helmets. One suspect was seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants, gray sandals, a black mask, and a gray helmet. The second wore a black jacket over a brown shirt, gray sweatpants, gray sandals, and a black helmet.

After causing the damage, the two men disappeared, leaving behind no immediate indication of where they went next.

Detectives are now working to determine how the suspects gained entry and why the building was targeted.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
