Passenger Arrested With Loaded Revolver During Inwood Traffic Stop

wo Inwood men were arrested Tuesday night after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a loaded firearm, Nassau County police said.

Officers stopped a 2017 Nissan on Bayview Avenue near Jeanette Avenue at approximately 8:38 p.m. on April 7 as part of a Vehicle Traffic Law investigation. During the stop, police determined the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

Authorities said the passenger, identified as William Rodriguez, 43, of Inwood, was found to be in possession of a loaded revolver. Both men were taken into custody without incident.

Rodriguez is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony, as well as criminal possession of a firearm. The charges carry significant penalties under New York law, including potential state prison time if convicted.

The driver, whose name was not released, is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree along with multiple Vehicle Traffic Law violations. He was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Rodriguez is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, April 8, at First District Court in Hempstead. The driver is expected to appear in the same court at a later date. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
