West Babylon Man, 24, Arrested on Child Pornography Charges After Internet Crimes Against Children Tip

A 24-year-old West Babylon man was arrested Monday morning on child pornography charges following an investigation launched from a national tipline, Suffolk County police said.

Mark Escorcia Jr. was taken into custody at approximately 7 a.m. on May 4 after detectives with the department’s Digital Forensics Unit completed an investigation into alleged illegal material found on his electronic devices.

The case began after authorities received a tip through the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) hotline. Detectives obtained a search warrant and executed it at Escorcia’s home on Herzel Boulevard on March 13, seizing multiple electronic devices for forensic analysis.

Following a review of those devices, police charged Escorcia with Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child and Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child. Both charges are serious felony offenses under New York State law.

Authorities did not immediately release additional details about the volume or nature of the material allegedly recovered, but cases involving the promotion of such content typically carry significant legal consequences if proven in court.

Escorcia is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Central Islip.

The investigation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to identify and prosecute individuals involved in the exploitation of minors online.

A criminal charge is an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
