A Moriches man who worked as a United States Postal Service employee has been indicted on rape, sexual abuse, sexual misconduct, and child endangerment charges stemming from allegations that he assaulted two teenage girls in separate incidents, Suffolk County prosecutors announced Thursday.

According to the indictment, Jenry Buestan Gutama, 23, allegedly assaulted a 15-year-old girl on May 11, 2026, while he was working as a postal worker. Prosecutors said Buestan Gutama drove past the girl as she was walking home from school and offered her a ride to get food. Instead, he allegedly drove to a cul-de-sac, prevented her from leaving the vehicle, grabbed her wrists, pulled her into the back of the postal truck, and sexually assaulted her.

Authorities said the girl returned to her school on foot and later reported the incident. Buestan Gutama was arrested by the East Hampton Town Police Department on May 15, 2026.

Following media coverage of the arrest, a now-19-year-old woman contacted police and reported that when she was 15 years old, Buestan Gutama allegedly sexually assaulted her inside his vehicle after parking near her home. Prosecutors said the woman was a family friend of the defendant.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney called the allegations “deeply disturbing” and thanked the victims for coming forward as well as the East Hampton Town Police Department for its investigation.

Buestan Gutama was arraigned June 10 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis on the following charges: one count of first-degree rape, one count of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of third-degree rape, two counts of sexual misconduct, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The judge ordered him held on $150,000 cash bail, $450,000 bond, or a $1.5 million partially secured bond while the case is pending. Prosecutors said he faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the top charge.

Buestan Gutama is scheduled to return to court on July 17, 2026. He is represented by attorney Chase Brown.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kirsten Reilly of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau. The investigation was conducted by Detectives James Gesa and Michael Coleman of the East Hampton Town Police Department.

Criminal charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
