Man Indicted on Rape, Sex Trafficking Charges Involving Second Woman

A man already facing sex trafficking charges in Suffolk County has been indicted in a second case accusing him of using drugs, violence and sexual assault to force another woman to engage in commercial sex acts, prosecutors said.

Torrey Brown, 36, also known as “Smiley,” was indicted on rape and sex trafficking charges involving a 33-year-old woman, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced Thursday.

Brown was previously indicted in June on allegations that he forced a 29-year-old woman to engage in commercial sex acts for money using similar tactics.

According to prosecutors, the second woman met Brown in September 2025 and initially believed they were beginning a romantic relationship. Brown allegedly took control of her phone and posted commercial sex advertisements of her online.

Prosecutors said Brown supplied the woman with crack and heroin and used the drugs to compel her to engage in commercial sex acts. When she refused, he allegedly withheld the drugs to cause withdrawal symptoms and physically assaulted her until she complied.

Brown allegedly remained nearby while the woman met with buyers so he could immediately collect the money. Prosecutors said he also held her against her will at multiple motels and hotels and assaulted her when she tried to leave.

Brown also allegedly told the woman she owed him money for the drugs he supplied, but prosecutors said the purported debt was never reduced despite the money collected from the sex acts.

Prosecutors further allege Brown forcibly raped the woman on two occasions, once in January and again in March 2026.

The woman reported the allegations to the Suffolk County Police Department’s Human Trafficking Investigations Unit in July, after Brown had been taken into custody in connection with the first alleged victim.

In that case, prosecutors allege Brown supplied the 29-year-old woman with drugs, forced her to engage in sex acts for money, kept her from leaving a motel room for several days, punched her and threatened her with a knife.

“This indictment contains allegations involving a second survivor who has now come forward,” Tierney said.

Brown was arraigned Oct. 1 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis on two counts of first-degree rape, one count of sex trafficking by force and three additional counts of sex trafficking.

Wilutis ordered Brown held on $500,000 cash bail, $2 million bond or $5 million partially secured bond.

Brown is due back in court Nov. 17. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted of the top charge.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Kirsten Reilly of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Hate Crimes, Elder Abuse, Anti-Bias and Human Trafficking Unit. The investigation involved Suffolk County police detectives and the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.

Brown is represented by attorney Scott Zerner.

The charges are allegations, and Brown is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
