Police recovered a loaded handgun and arrested five people during a large car meetup involving approximately 150 vehicles in Uniondale, Nassau County police said.
The meetup was reported at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Mitchel Field, located at 1 Charles Lindbergh Boulevard.

Third Precinct officers responding to reports of an unpermitted car meetup found approximately 150 vehicles gathered in the area, according to police.
Because of the size of the gathering, additional units responded, including the Bureau of Special Operations, Strategic Response Team, Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team, Canine Unit and Aviation. Hempstead police also assisted.
Officers conducted multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law stops during the response, resulting in 22 vehicles being impounded and approximately 100 summonses being issued, police said.
During the operation, Bureau of Special Operations officers saw a 2010 Volkswagen occupied by five people committing multiple traffic violations, according to police.
Officers stopped the Volkswagen near Charles Lindbergh Boulevard and Earle Ovington Boulevard. An investigation led to the recovery of what police described as an illegal loaded tan .22LR caliber 1911 German Sport Gun from inside the vehicle.
The driver, Maleyna Galeano, 18, of Central Islip, and passengers Nya Reeves, 20, of Central Islip, Joshlynn Almonte, 18, of Central Islip, and two boys, ages 17 and 16, were arrested without further incident, police said.
The Volkswagen was also impounded.
Police did not specify the charges against the five people in the information released.
