A popular late-night dessert chain is expanding its presence on Long Island.
Insomnia Cookies has opened a new location in Babylon at 55 Deer Park Ave., marking the company’s second store on Long Island. The bakery concept previously opened a Long Island shop at 730 Fulton Ave. in Hempstead two years ago.
The 875-square-foot Babylon shop will hold its grand opening celebration on Saturday, March 14. Customers who visit between noon Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday will receive a free cookie to mark the occasion.
Founded in 2003 by University of Pennsylvania student Seth Berkowitz, Insomnia Cookies began as a dorm-room business delivering warm cookies to fellow college students craving late-night snacks. The company opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Syracuse in 2006 and has since expanded to more than 380 locations across the United States.
Today, Insomnia Cookies sells a wide range of cookies, ice cream and ice cream cakes. Customers can purchase items in-store, order local delivery, or have cookies shipped nationwide.
The new Babylon store is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday, noon to 3 a.m. Saturday, and noon to 1 a.m. Sunday.
