Two women were arrested following an undercover investigation into alleged illegal massage services at an Oceanside spa, and federal immigration authorities later took one of the defendants into custody, Nassau County police said.
The investigation was conducted Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Angel’s Healing Spa, located at 220 Merrick Road in Oceanside.
Police said Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives determined that illegal massages were being conducted at the business.
Jieli Tian, 55, of 4143 149th Place in Flushing, and Zhiwei Wu, 55, of 147-26 Elm Avenue in Flushing, were arrested without incident at approximately 3:09 p.m., according to police.
Tian and Wu were each charged with unauthorized practicing of a profession.
Both women were issued appearance tickets requiring them to appear Sept. 1 at First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said a further investigation determined that Wu is illegally in the United States and subject to removal proceedings.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents subsequently took Wu into custody, according to police.
