Gilgo Beach Case: Rex Heuermann Expected to Plead Guilty in Long Island Serial Killings

Rex Heuermann, the Massapequa Park man accused in the Gilgo Beach serial killings, is reportedly expected to plead guilty next month, according to various reports.

Heuermann, 62, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he killed seven women between 1993 and 2010. Authorities have said several of the victims’ remains were found along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach, a case that has unsettled Long Island for years.

Multiple outlets, citing unnamed sources, reported that Heuermann could change his plea during his next scheduled court appearance on April 8. Any plea agreement would need approval from the judge.

Neither prosecutors nor defense attorneys have confirmed the reports, and details of any potential deal have not been disclosed.

Heuermann has been held without bail since his July 2023 arrest and had been expected to go to trial later this year.

The case remains pending in Suffolk County Court.
