Nassau County police are searching for a man accused of stealing merchandise from a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in East Garden City last month, including clothing, roller blades and a workout bench.
According to the Third Squad, the theft happened on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at approximately 8:18 p.m. at the store located at 630 Old Country Road.
Detectives said the suspect initially entered the store and removed multiple clothing items from shelves before leaving without paying for the merchandise.
Police said the man later returned to the store carrying a hand truck. He then allegedly removed two boxes containing roller blades and a workout bench before passing all points of purchase without paying and fleeing in an unknown direction.
Authorities described the suspect as a man with black hair and a full beard. He was wearing a black jacket, black pants, black-and-orange shoes and a black hat.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Nassau County Crime Stoppers is asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call 1-800-244-TIPS or 911. All calls will remain anonymous.
