A 38-year-old woman was arrested on prostitution charges Wednesday during a police raid at a Holbrook massage parlor following complaints from the community, Suffolk County police said.
Yonglan Yan, of Flushing, was arrested Oct. 14 at approximately 5:45 p.m. at Blue Ocean Spa, located at 1227 Grundy Ave.
Police said Fifth Precinct officers and detectives conducted an investigation into the business with assistance from the department’s Human Trafficking Unit, Community Support Unit, Anti-Crime Unit and the Town of Islip Fire Marshal.
Yan, an employee of the spa, was charged with two counts of prostitution and one count of unauthorized practice of a profession.
The Town of Islip Fire Marshal and an ordinance inspector also issued several violations to the business, police said. Authorities did not specify the nature of those violations.
Yan was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
The charges are allegations, and Yan is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
