According to the report, the suspect allegedly fired at a 40-year-old man during an altercation. The bullet passed through the man’s shoulder before striking a 25-year-old bystander who was not involved in the dispute.

The new information reveals that two people were injured in the shooting, rather than one, as initially reported.

The 25-year-old victim immediately sought medical attention and was hospitalized, ABC7 reported.

The 40-year-old man initially returned home despite being wounded. Investigators later located him and transported him to a hospital for treatment.

During that encounter, police discovered that the man had an outstanding warrant and charged him with a warrant-related violation, according to ABC7.

The shooting occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m. Friday, October 9, during a confrontation involving passengers at the Bellport station.

Initial reports indicated that four people were exiting an eastbound train when an argument occurred with a man boarding the train. One person allegedly fired a gun before the group fled the station.

MTA Police searched the area and investigated the shooting, which temporarily disrupted service on the LIRR’s Montauk Branch.

The 19-year-old suspect was expected to be arraigned Wednesday, October 14.

Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or released additional details about the circumstances leading to the shooting, according to ABC7.

The investigation remains ongoing.
