A bomb threat prompted the evacuation of the Hicksville Public Library and placed nearby schools on lockout Friday morning before police determined there was no threat, authorities said.
Nassau County police said an individual made a statement at the library, located at 169 Jerusalem Ave., at about 10 a.m. Sept. 18 that was interpreted as a potential threat.
The library was evacuated as a precaution, while nearby schools were placed on lockout.
The Nassau County Police Department’s Arson/Bomb Squad responded and investigated. Police said authorities ultimately determined there was no threat.
The person who made the statement was taken into custody, according to police. Authorities did not identify the individual or announce any charges in the release.
The investigation remains ongoing.
