A Great Neck Plaza woman was arrested after an 8-year-old boy was found unattended inside a parked vehicle in Westbury, Nassau County police said.
A witness called 911 at about 6 p.m. Friday, July 24, after noticing the child inside the vehicle in a store parking lot at 1240 Old Country Road, according to police.
Responding officers found the boy inside the vehicle with its windows partially open. Officers gained access to the vehicle and safely removed him, police said.
Investigators determined that 46-year-old Ming Zhang, of Walnut Place in Great Neck Plaza, was responsible for leaving the child unattended, according to police. She was arrested without incident.
The boy was released into the custody of a family member.
Zhang was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Police said she was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday, July 25, at Nassau County Court in Mineola.
