Nassau County police are asking for the public’s help locating Brian Atwood in connection with a cocaine possession case in Long Beach.
Police identified Atwood, 43, as wanted for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Court records show the case stems from Atwood’s Dec. 12, 2024 arrest. He was charged with felony fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance involving cocaine and misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, also involving cocaine.
The court docket lists guilty pleas to both charges. His next appearance is scheduled for Aug. 3 in Nassau County Court before Judge Christopher E. Hoefenkrieg.
Atwood also has a separate controlled-substance case stemming from a Sept. 20, 2023 arrest. Court records show he pleaded guilty to seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance involving crack.
He was sentenced to time served and three years of probation in that case. The court docket states that Atwood admitted to violating probation in May 2025.
Police described Atwood as a white man with brown hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 6-foot-1 and weighs 210 pounds.
Police warned members of the public not to attempt to apprehend or detain him. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Nassau County police. Messages submitted to the department are forwarded anonymously.
