Shoplifting Suspect Becomes Combative During Arrest at Victoria’s Secret in Roosevelt Field Mall

A 49-year-old Westbury woman is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a shoplifting incident escalated into a violent confrontation with police Tuesday morning at the Roosevelt Field Mall, authorities said.

According to Nassau County police, Angela D. McCallum entered Victoria’s Secret at 630 Old Country Road at approximately 10:20 a.m. on April 28 and allegedly concealed merchandise in a shopping bag before leaving the store without paying.

Officers responding to the scene located McCallum in the parking lot and attempted to place her under arrest. Police said she became violent and combative during the arrest, at one point attempting to remove an officer’s Taser.

One officer was injured during the struggle and transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. McCallum was also taken to a nearby hospital.

Investigators later determined that McCallum had previously been issued a trespass notice banning her from the Victoria’s Secret location.

McCallum has been charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, Attempted Robbery in the Third Degree, Petit Larceny, Assault in the Second Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, and Resisting Arrest.

Burglary in the third degree is a felony offense in New York, and the additional assault charge involving injury to a police officer significantly increases the seriousness of the case.

McCallum is scheduled to be arraigned on April 29, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead.
