Two Florida men were arrested days after shots were fired at a vehicle in Elmont.
According to detectives, officers responded to the area of Locustwood Boulevard and 106th Avenue on March 28, 2026, at approximately 7:53 p.m. for reports of gunfire.
An investigation determined that two males fired handguns toward a vehicle at the location before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported.
Following a police investigation, Jordan Johnson, 18, of West Palm Beach, and Audubree Steele, 18, also of West Palm Beach, were located in Elmont on April 1 and taken into custody.
Police said Steele was in possession of a Smith & Wesson handgun at the time of the arrest.
Both defendants face multiple charges related to the incident. They were scheduled to be arraigned on April 2 at First District Court in Hempstead.
What led to the gunfire and why the vehicle was targeted has not been disclosed.
The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
