It was a normal evening at the Walt Whitman Shops until two shoppers walked into Saks Fifth Avenue and allegedly walked out with more than they paid for.
Now, police are asking for help identifying them.
According to investigators, a man and woman entered Saks Fifth Avenue at 230 Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station around 5:20 p.m. on March 11. At first, nothing seemed unusual. High-end sunglasses lined the displays. Tom Ford. Chanel. The kind of items customers browse every day.
But police say the pair wasn’t there to shop.
Instead, they allegedly took two pairs of Tom Ford sunglasses and one pair of Chanel sunglasses, with a combined value of about $1,500, before leaving the store.
By the time anyone realized what had happened, they were already gone.
Now, detectives are turning to the public, hoping someone recognizes the pair before they strike again.
