Saint James Man Caught After Allegedly Selling “Ghost Guns” to Undercover Officer

A Saint James man has been indicted for allegedly selling multiple illegal firearms, including untraceable “ghost guns,” to an undercover Suffolk County police officer over nearly two years, prosecutors said.

According to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney, Bryan Bennett, 36, is accused of selling approximately 12 illegal firearms to an undercover officer during three separate transactions between March 2024 and January 2026, in exchange for about $12,500.

Prosecutors allege the weapons were untraceable and, in some cases, built using 3D-printed components.

The investigation led to Bennett’s arrest on February 25, 2026, when authorities say he was found in possession of five illegal firearms.

Detectives later executed search warrants at two residences connected to Bennett, where they allegedly recovered about 10 additional assault-style weapons, high-capacity ammunition magazines, a 3D printer, polymer materials, and tools used to assemble firearms.

In total, authorities say Bennett possessed 15 illegal firearms at the time of his arrest.

On March 31, 2026, Bennett was arraigned before Acting Supreme Court Justice Philip Goglas on multiple charges, including criminal sale of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was ordered held on $1 million cash bail, or bond options up to $10 million. If convicted on the top charge, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

Bennett pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court on May 11, 2026.

The case is being prosecuted by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, with the investigation conducted by Suffolk County Police.

Bennett is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
