What started as two separate incidents in Elmont nearly a year apart ended with an early morning arrest that tied them together.
Nassau County police say 31-year-old Jerald Lowe was taken into custody on March 31, 2026, at a home on Marshall Street following an investigation into both a domestic assault and a serious hit-and-run crash.
The first incident dates back to June 14, 2024, when police say Lowe was involved in a domestic dispute with a 35-year-old woman. During a verbal argument, he allegedly punched her in the face, causing swelling, bruising, and substantial pain.
Nearly a year later, on May 2, 2025, investigators say Lowe was driving a black Toyota Solara southbound on Lincoln Street at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling on Rosalind Avenue.
The impact sent his vehicle onto the sidewalk, where it struck a 58-year-old woman from behind. She suffered a spinal fracture as a result of the crash.
Police say Lowe got out of the vehicle, collected his belongings, and fled the scene on foot without contacting authorities.
The case took another turn when detectives arrested him this week at his home at 1465 Marshall Street. They discovered he also had an open warrant in Georgia related to firearm possession, obstruction of law enforcement, and reckless conduct.
Lowe is now facing multiple charges tied to both incidents and is scheduled to be arraigned in Nassau County court in Mineola.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
