A Brooklyn man and Hempstead woman were arrested on controlled substance charges Tuesday night while Nassau County police conducted intensified patrols in East Garden City.
Strategic Response Team officers were conducting vehicle and traffic enforcement near Stewart Avenue and Merchants Concourse when Antony Perry, 58, and Lashana Wright, 46, were arrested at approximately 11:12 p.m. on July 21, police said.
Perry, of Colonial Road in Brooklyn, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
Wright, of Hudson Place in Hempstead, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police did not identify the substance involved or provide additional details about the circumstances leading to the arrests.
Perry and Wright were arraigned Wednesday, July 22, at Nassau County Court in Garden City.
The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
