Two women were seriously injured in a crash involving a dump truck in Coram on Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.
The collision occurred at about 3:37 p.m. at the intersection of Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road and Pine Road, according to Sixth Squad detectives.
Police said Tanya Fernandez, 39, of Coram, was driving a 2007 Toyota and attempting to make a left turn from southbound Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road onto eastbound Pine Road when her vehicle collided with a northbound 2001 Peterbilt dump truck traveling through the intersection.
Fernandez and her passenger, Laura Thiele, 37, of Centereach, were both transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious physical injuries, police said.
The driver of the dump truck, Matthew Corliss, 35, of Centereach, was also taken to the same hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks as part of the ongoing investigation.
