Stony Brook University Student Arrested for Selling Meth, Ketamine from Dorm Room

A 20-year-old Stony Brook University student was arrested Monday after authorities said he was selling narcotics out of his campus dorm room.

Suffolk County police said officers executed a search warrant at Mount Hall, located at 600 Circle Drive on the Stony Brook University campus, at approximately 12:04 p.m. on April 27. The operation followed an investigation by Suffolk County Police Narcotics Section detectives working alongside SUNY Stony Brook State Police.

During the search, investigators recovered methamphetamines, ketamine, and materials commonly used in the sale and distribution of drugs, according to police.

The student, identified as William Turri, 20, of Fairport, was taken into custody at the dorm suite.

Turri faces a long list of charges including multiple felony and misdemeanor charges:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree
  • Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree
  • Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree

The second-degree possession charge is among the most serious drug offenses under New York law and typically involves large quantities of controlled substances, carrying the potential for significant prison time if convicted.

Police said Turri is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, April 28, at First District Court in Central Islip.

The investigation involved coordination between campus and county law enforcement, highlighting ongoing efforts to address narcotics activity within university housing.

A criminal charge is an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
