Man on Probation Arrested After Police Find 22 Guns Hidden Behind False Wall in Lindenhurst Home

A Lindenhurst man who was already on probation was arrested Friday night after investigators discovered 22 illegal firearms hidden inside his home, according to Suffolk County Police.

Officers from the Suffolk County Probation Department conducted a search of Todd Pinnell’s residence on Kane Street at approximately 7:10 p.m. on March 6 as part of his probation conditions. During the search, investigators found multiple weapons concealed behind a false wall inside a basement closet.

First Squad detectives responded to the scene and recovered eight assault rifles, ten semi-automatic handguns, and four revolvers. Police also seized multiple ammunition feeding devices.

Pinnell, 54, was charged with a total of 47 felony counts, including 22 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree for possessing firearms with a prior conviction. Additional charges include 15 counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition Feeding Devices, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree for assault weapon possession, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the First Degree for possessing 10 or more firearms, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree for possessing five or more firearms.

Pinnell was held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 7.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
