A Selden man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison after being convicted of repeatedly abusing his young daughter over several years, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.
The 47-year-old defendant was found guilty following a bench trial in September 2025 of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree and Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree. Prosecutors are not identifying him to protect the identity of the victim.
According to prosecutors, the abuse began in the summer of 2015 when the child was five years old. Authorities said the abuse happened while the child’s mother was not home and continued for years before ending when the defendant moved out of the house and no longer had access to the victim.
The victim later disclosed the abuse to school officials, leading to an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department Special Victims Section. The defendant was arrested in April 2024.
“This was a horrific betrayal of trust involving a very young child,” Tierney said in a statement. “We commend the victim for the courage she showed in coming forward.”
On May 26, 2026, Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei sentenced the defendant to 25 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Ashley Moruzzi and Alexandra Raso of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau.
