Nassau County police are continuing to search for a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Wantagh last year.
Crime Stoppers and the Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad are still seeking the public’s help in locating Elvin Rosario, also known as “Fling,” who is wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on September 10, 2024.
According to authorities, the shooting happened at approximately 10:45 p.m. in the vicinity of Wayside Lane in Wantagh. The victim was shot and killed at the scene.
Rosario has not been located, and police are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
Authorities said all tips can be submitted anonymously through Nassau County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-244-TIPS or online. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
Rosario has previously been identified by law enforcement in a major Long Island drug investigation. In 2017, he was among dozens arrested as part of “Operation Bundle Up,” a large-scale heroin trafficking crackdown led by Nassau County authorities and federal agents.
According to investigators at the time, Rosario, then 27 and living in Copiague, was identified as part of a group known as the “Papis,” accused of supplying large quantities of heroin to a distribution network operating along Route 110. Authorities alleged the group sold thousands of bags of heroin each week, generating tens of thousands of dollars in revenue.
That investigation led to more than 35 arrests across multiple locations in Nassau County and was described by officials as one of the largest heroin busts on Long Island.
Rosario is wanted on a homicide charge, one of the most serious offenses under New York law. If apprehended and convicted, he could face a potential sentence of decades to life in prison.
Police emphasized that Rosario should not be approached.
The investigation into the Wantagh homicide remains active as authorities continue efforts to locate Rosario.
