Suffolk County authorities are seeking the public’s help identifying and locating the person who abandoned a malnourished dog in Shirley last month, police said.
The mixed-breed female dog was discovered Aug. 24 near Dawn Drive. Police said the dog was malnourished and was taken for medical attention.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s BEAST Unit, which stands for Biological, Environmental, and Animal Safety Team, are investigating.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-220-TIPS, using the P3 Tips app or visiting P3Tips.com. Police said all tips will be kept confidential.
