Police Seek Man on Drug, Menacing Charges in New Cassel

Nassau County police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with drug and menacing charges stemming from an incident in New Cassel.

Authorities said Jose Pacheco Fuentes, 33, is wanted for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, specifically involving cocaine weighing 500 milligrams, and menacing in the second degree involving a weapon.

Police described Fuentes as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds.

The charges indicate that investigators allege Fuentes was in possession of a controlled substance and used or threatened the use of a weapon during the incident. No additional details about the underlying circumstances were immediately released.

Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree is a felony under New York law, while menacing in the second degree is typically charged as a misdemeanor involving the display or use of a weapon to place another person in fear of injury.

Police are urging anyone with information on Fuentes’ whereabouts to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and authorities emphasized that members of the public should not attempt to apprehend or detain him.

The investigation remains ongoing. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
