Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of posing as a Walmart employee and scamming a customer out of $900.
The incident happened May 23 at approximately 11:55 a.m. at the Walmart located at 1890 Old Country Road in Riverhead, according to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Town Police Department.
Investigators said the man pretended to work at the store and stole $900 from a customer. Authorities are seeking him in connection with a petit larceny investigation.
Police released two surveillance images showing the man inside the store. His identity was not immediately known.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
