A 27-year-old man pleaded guilty to fleeing Nassau County police after an arrest that also involved reckless driving allegations, a knife and multiple traffic violations.
Kendrell Hickson was arrested April 12, 2025, following an incident in Uniondale, according to state court records.
The records do not provide a full account of the pursuit, but the charges show Hickson was accused of driving at an unsafe speed, running four stop signs and operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle with improper license plates.
He was also charged with reckless driving and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Court records identify the weapon as a knife or cutting instrument.
Hickson pleaded not guilty at his first court appearance and was released on his own recognizance.
The felony weapon complaint was later dismissed or reduced. On July 10, 2025, Hickson pleaded guilty to third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
He received a one-year conditional discharge and was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service. The remaining driving and traffic charges were covered by the plea.
Court records show a declaration of delinquency was filed July 8, 2026, alleging Hickson failed to comply with the terms of his sentence. A judge issued a bench warrant that day.
Nassau County police later issued a wanted notice identifying Hickson and warning the public not to approach or attempt to detain him.
After the wanted notice was issued, Hickson appeared in Nassau District Court on Aug. 3. The judge vacated the warrant and released him on his own recognizance.
Hickson is scheduled to return to court Aug. 10 for proceedings involving the alleged violation of his conditional discharge.
