An 84-year-old woman was rescued from an Oceanside home late Saturday night after police officers arrived to find flames coming from the side of the residence, Nassau County police said.
Fourth Precinct officers responded to the house fire on Harding Street at about 11:05 p.m. Sept. 26.
Police said officers found a utility pole with wires on the ground and flames coming from the side of the home.
The officers used fire extinguishers from their patrol vehicles to contain the flames and keep the fire from spreading before entering the house to search for anyone inside, police said.
Officers found an 84-year-old woman in the home and escorted her to safety.
The Oceanside Fire Department also responded to the scene and assisted.
No injuries were reported.
