A Mastic Beach man was indicted Thursday after investigators allegedly found six unserialized pistols, high-capacity magazines, 3D-printing equipment and a homemade silencer inside his home.
Ronald Benini, 49, allegedly manufactured ghost guns using 3D printers between April and July 2026, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney.
Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Benini’s Mastic Beach residence on July 2. Authorities said they recovered six unserialized pistols, 3D-printed lower receivers, multiple 3D printers, printer filament and manuals explaining how to construct ghost guns.
Investigators also allegedly found two high-capacity ammunition magazines and a homemade silencer inside the residence.
Benini was arraigned July 23 before acting state Supreme Court Justice Richard I. Horowitz on seven counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and 13 counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The second-degree charges are Class C violent felonies, while the third-degree charges are Class D felonies. The fourth-degree charges are Class A misdemeanors.
Horowitz ordered Benini held on $150,000 cash bail, $300,000 bond or a $1 million partially secured bond while the case is pending.
Benini is scheduled to return to court Aug. 18. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Saam Jalayer of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau. The investigation was conducted by Investigator Christian Spears of the New York State Police NICS South Unit.
Benini is represented by attorney Keith O’Halloran.
The charges are allegations. Benini is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
