A Long Beach man was arrested Saturday evening after allegedly forcing his way into a woman’s home in East Hills, assaulting her, and violating a court-issued order of protection, Nassau County police said.
According to detectives, officers responded to a 911 call at a Canterbury Lane residence at approximately 5:28 p.m. on April 25. Investigators determined that Shawn Morgenroth, 43, unlawfully entered the home of a 39-year-old woman without permission.
Once inside, police said an argument broke out between the two. During the confrontation, Morgenroth allegedly grabbed the victim’s cell phone and prevented her from leaving the residence. The situation escalated into violence when he allegedly pushed the woman down a staircase, causing physical injuries.
Officers located Morgenroth in the basement of the home, where he was reportedly holding a metal object in a threatening manner. Police used an Electronic Control Device to subdue him and take him into custody.
Both the victim and Morgenroth were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment.
Authorities said further investigation revealed Morgenroth had violated an active order of protection at the time of the incident.
He faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including first-degree burglary, third-degree robbery, second- and third-degree assault, aggravated criminal contempt, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Morgenroth is expected to be arraigned once he is medically cleared. The investigation remains ongoing.
