Trek Long Island is welcoming a familiar face from the Star Trek universe. Celia Rose Gooding, who stars as Nyota Uhura on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, has been announced as a guest for Trek Long Island, running June 12–14, 2026.
Gooding was originally scheduled to appear at last year’s event but was forced to cancel, making this year’s announcement something of a long-awaited beam-in for fans. Organizers confirmed that Gooding will join the convention’s growing lineup of Star Trek actors at the three-day Long Island celebration.
The 2026 edition of Trek Long Island returns with its playful “What Happens on Risa” theme, leaning into Star Trek’s lighter, more adventurous side while continuing the convention’s focus on community, charity, and fan connection. The event has steadily positioned itself as one of Long Island’s most welcoming and fan-forward science fiction gatherings.
On Strange New Worlds, Gooding portrays a younger version of Uhura, decades before the original Star Trek. In a 2025 interview with CBS News, Gooding spoke about stepping into one of science fiction’s most iconic roles and being embraced by the Trek fandom. “Trek is all about curiosity and hope and community,” they said, noting that fans have been “so generous and so kind” in welcoming their interpretation of the character.
Gooding, who also brings Broadway experience to the role, has described Uhura as playful, curious, and still discovering who she is, an approach shaped in part by the show’s prequel timeline, where the character doesn’t yet know her future. That sense of discovery has resonated strongly with fans of Strange New Worlds, now streaming on Paramount+.
Gooding joins an already stacked guest list for Trek Long Island 2026, which includes Nana Visitor, Jeffrey Combs, Dan Jeannotte, Nicole de Boer, and several other actors spanning The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Picard, and Strange New Worlds.
