A homicide investigation is underway after an unidentified body was discovered floating in the water at a North Woodmere park Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said.
According to detectives, officers responded to North Woodmere Park, located at 750 Hungry Harbor Road, at approximately 11:05 a.m. on June 16 following a report of a person seen floating in the water.
When officers arrived, they recovered the body of an unidentified individual from the water.
A Nassau County Police medic responded to the scene and pronounced the person dead.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased, and no additional details about the circumstances surrounding the death were immediately available.
The Nassau County Police Department’s Homicide Squad is investigating. Detectives said the investigation remains ongoing.
