Florida Woman Accused of Stealing $50K From Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County After $1M in Wire Attempts

A Florida woman was arrested after investigators said more than $1 million in wire transfers were attempted from the bank account of the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, with more than $50,000 successfully transferred.

Nicole Ramirez, 28, of Orlando, surrendered to Nassau County police at the First Precinct following an investigation by the Electronics Squad Fraud and Forgery Section, police said. The case stems from an incident on May 5 involving the Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County in Roosevelt.

According to detectives, someone contacted the organization while posing as a representative of M&T Bank regarding its account. The organization provided the requested account information.

On May 13, M&T Bank contacted the organization and reported that 21 wire transfers totaling $1,029,132.40 had been attempted from its business account, police said. Of that amount, $50,314 was successfully transferred out of the account, according to police.

Following an investigation, Ramirez surrendered to police for arrest processing. She is charged with second-degree grand larceny.
